London Trocadero will close for good on February 25

Sad times

Sega World back in the day >>>

Daytona >>>>>>>>>>>

Pure girls there on a Saturday!

That was the spot

Sad news guys. Another UK’s arcade scene landmark is going close, and this time for good! In fact London Trocadero (formerly Funland and SegaWorld) is set to permanently close on February 25. It’ll become a luxury hotel, landlord announced recently.

As you may know, the true soul of Trocadero, the Funland arcade, died many years ago, but the building was still hosting a couple arcades at underground floor and plenty of loose cabinets scattered throughout all the other venue’s floors, including several racing games.

All the arcade owners have been given a 2-weeks notice for the final shutdown and currently most of the cabinets are for sale (but most of them are in a really bad shape, and the good ones are probably already gone).

If you have a spare afternoon, just go there to play one last game before all is gone, forever, on February 25.

I remember I was there at the opening of Sega World when it was all free to play. Memories.

Even remember going during 6th-form and it was still fun.

Went there a few months ago and it was soul destroying.

Went there back in november just to see what had happened to the place.

If you have the notion to go back there before they close it for good I urge you not to.

Its heart breaking seeing the place the way it is now.

Ok this is not an over exaggeration.

You know those toilets at the beach where the walls are painted white but the paint has started to peel? Well thats downstairs where the arcade space at the Trocadero is, and its everywhere.

The games machines look like the corners have been knocked and chipped away, 30% of the screens are fuzzy, none of the games you actually think will be there are, Some machines (Much more than there should be for a place thats still open) simply don't work.

Remember how going upstairs into Sega World felt like you were almost literally going into another world? Well going into the arcade now down in the basement is like going to another country… Maybe… Scotland.

The way Scotland felt in that movie Trainspotting is what Trocadero feels and looks like now.
