Neville announces retirement

Gary Neville has retired from football after 20 years playing at Manchester United.

Gary signed for United in July 1991 and was part of the famous Class of ’92 that won the FA Youth Cup in 1992. He then became a first-team regular alongside his teammates from that side, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, his brother Philip and David Beckham.

In his time at Old Trafford, Gary played 602 games and scored seven goals. He has won the Champions League, eight Premier League trophies, three FA Cups, two League Cups, the Intercontinental Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. He became United club captain in 2005.

Gary won 85 caps for England between 1995 and 2007, playing in two World Cups (1998 and 2006) and three European Championships (1996, 2000 and 2004).

Neville, who turns 36 this month, made the decision after much consideration. He said:

"I have been a Manchester United fan all my life and fulfilled every dream I've ever had. Obviously I am disappointed that my playing days are at an end, however it comes to us all, and it's knowing when that time is and for me that time is now. I have played in the most incredible football teams, playing with some of the best players in the world as well as against them and I have been lucky to have been part of the team's achievements and the club's great success.

"There are so many people I want to thank and, of course, top of that list is Sir Alex. He has given me so many opportunities and countless support over the last 20 years - he is truly one of the greatest managers - and I have to thank him for that.

I'm f*ck*ng devastated,

right then we may actually sign someone in the Summer then,

saying that i'm sure we'll here "ohh Valencia returning to full fitness and Cleverly and Welbeck returning is like 3 new signings"

Manchester United can do much better I have been saying this for a long time. N'Zogbia should be consider as a serious option

By the way Obertan has got worse(I didn't think this would be possible)

Blanc/Gourcuff(Christian) didn't even rate the guy.

Can you stop talking like you know all these pro ballers from every foreign country and you're some in the know. Laurent Blanc didnt tell you sh*t so stop talking like that. DPMO. Being a non league Angolan footballer doesnt give you the right to talk like this.

In a week we're certain people's gassed up opinions on the loyalty of certain player's loyalties have been well and truely exposed,

someone actually deserving of the phrase Legend and Loyal player retires.

fantastic player in his time and an instrumental reliable player before the injuries wrecked him, fully expect him aswell as Giggs to join the set-up in some capacity.

One of the few United Players to actually come out and comment regarding FC United and fans protests,

Read the quotes you clown and see what both coaches said.

Who said I know them? I am a football fan like yourself so I can give my opinions whenever I like and want.

Who the f*ck are you to tell me otherwise.

You going to tell me Obertan has improved? That's how I know if he didn't play Manchester United you wouldn't have a clue who he was.

Furthermore I don't play Non-league. I have trials coming up which I am going to give my best(work hard, dribble, dribble) and with the Lord's help I can take my first steps in English football

If you are going to call me Angolan I would appreciate it if you add British French Portuguese as well.

I am out
