When youre being played as a forward your job is to create a threat to the oppositions goal wether its scoring goals, or making them by playing key passes or having intelligent movement that creates opportunity

My problem with welbeck isnt that he is not intelligent or cant build play up

Its that hes finishing is the weakest part of his game IMO

I'm not claiming he is a natural goal scorer, but like Porchy said before I'd rather a young striker with technique, movement, skill and movement etc, his composure and finishing will improve with regular game time

Them stats are to show he isn't some deer in headlights in front of goal and when played as a STRIKER he scored goals and will continue to do so

What was Henry's finishing like at 23? Drogbas? Rvp? And loads of other top strikers?

Welbeck is a good player and there are too many nuances in his time at Man United to simply look at his stats to get a real impression of how prolific he could be as a striker.

 

I don't expect him to turn into a 25 goal a season player but I'm sure he'll make all the people trying to make him out to be Heskey mk2 look like the idiots that they are.
