Funky werent even dead.
It was big but just like myspace for some reason it had an extremely short run then just died.
Co sign blacks abandoned grime though.
Imo what started that was the whole grime vs rap snobbery before giggs around the time northstar and mashtown came out.
You would get guys try big up their chest and say "im on a grown man ting str8 rap out ere"..."grimes for yout man" etc etc.
Its a shame tbh.

Lol i forgot about the Rap snobbery. I think at that period everyone was becoming adults and the Funky/Soulful scene seemed alot more sophisticated (prior to skank tracks) and Rap was what the older lot were listening too.

Not really.
Rumble, stampede, young man standing and a few other under 18/21st with a few over 18 raves did.
Eski dance was a big factor as well.
Garage Nation was a mixed crowd, La Cosa Nostra was mostly blacks.
So many birthdays, party's where Mcs would just turn up. Not a lot, if any, white folk at all. So it must have been the same around London.

Because the mcs went and ruined it like they did garage.
Only garage had a longer run because the Mcs took longer to jump on it
The skank era ruined funky
