I don't think that was the situation. Sure Corbyn wanted to guarantee EU Citizens the right to live here regardless and without securing the rights for the British overseas. May has put a deal on the table to let them stay here pending the EU agreeing on that for the British too.

Essentially they do though. From when the EU/Merkel opened their doors and told the world to come on in, those from outside the EU flood there, get themselves some EU citizenship and then have free movement to reach the UK.
