mcfc Raheem Sterling
the perfect example is mario balotelli
has done no wrong off the pitch just hasn't performed on the pitch
but the fans are quick to scream get rid and the club and manager doesnt select him to play

There is a lot of real but...
After a while, I don't care what anyone says clubs and ultimately the fans of them clubs reward and look after those players well, they may not owe loyalty but they do owe some sort code of behaviour.

Like Mourinho basically telling Cech "F*ck you and your family" and trying to ship him off to France.
Dog eat dog world. Money doesn't buy loyalty. No more boyhood club players playing for their clubs anymore. No one coming through the ranks like Terry, Gerrard, United 90's etc.

My only gripe is £200k a week at 20. What's he gonna earn aged 25...?

if the manager of that club starts talking to the press openly about your contract that code of behaviour is out the window.

Cech is the wrong example tbh.
Mourinho wanted to do what was best for him. Cech wanted to do what was best for him.
Roman listened to the player and let him have his wish.
Chelsea actually displayed that loyalty and service does count for something and Cech got what he wanted without talking back in the press to Mourinho or missing training sessions. Lol.

It really doesn't, infact in many ways Sterling could've have made Liverpool look very silly if he handled it with a code of behaviour.
