Fat people in the uk are set to cost the NHS more than smokers.

we talk about how immigration is stretching economics across britain but what is you guys take on irresponsibility for your own health at the expense of the public purse (also many claim benefits because they qualify as disabled)

What would you suggest as a good deterrent on unhealthy consumption? Fat tax? Fines? unqualified medical treatment? regulating corporate fast food restaurants?

as with most issues, education is key

not imposing legislation

the country's media driven insistence on molly coddling it's citizens is pathetic

all i hear when day time tv or talk radio's on in the back ground

loose women whores n morning tv presenter's discussing all day how they think we can be best more stringently controlled

1. the education's been around for ages

2. people aren't going to proactively make themselves more healthy

3. what about some sort of incentives?

1. what's that even mean?

mainstream knowledge is only just starting to come round to the fact that fats aren't the main cause of obesity, a fact that's been evident for years

most doctors and nutritionists cant and dont differentiate between different types of cholesterol or fats or carbs

even if mainstream knowledge was up to date, were we being taught comprehensively about nutrition and exercise at school?

did our teacher's even understand the basics?

the science of nutrition is still young

2. why? they need to be given the carrot or the stick to live a prolonged healthier life? do u?

what if they well educated (in general) from a young age before their shit life spirals out of control?

3. like what?

/

of course all this is ignoring the fact we need an endless supply of stupid serfs to keep the wheels in motion

fat fucks clogging up the nhs is just a byproduct of that, as is immigration

I can't see it changing until unhealthy food is significantly more expensive than the healthier alternative

Slap a tax on it, or do what Guernsey did and don't allow fast food chains which is probably too extreme. .

Fuck that

Im in healthy shape maybe even slightly skinny due to years of daily running, if i want to slob out on junk food once every now and again why should i pay extortionate amounts to do so.

the thing is fast food is mass produced which is why subsidized corporation can sell it for cheap. notice how healthy food has tripled in the last decade and fast food has barely doubled.

I don't think any amount of education is going to change the habits of poorer families sometimes the only bit of hope they hold on to is a day out at mcdonalds with the kids.

Is there any fat people in this forum? would be good to hear their thoughts.

When I saw the stats it was:

London region has the lowest rate of people being overweight in the country (like 55%), as you go further north you get more overweight people.

Tower Hamlets, Richmond, and Chelsea have the lowest rates in London (like 45%)

Its not just a fast food thing. I bet you'll probably find bread and beer just as much to blame as fast food chains and cook-from-frozen meals.

this is true.

it's a nutritional problem, so many people i know go on like they're allergic to fruit and veg.
