United face Club Brugge in Champions League play-off

Manchester United will face Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off round, having been pitted against the Belgian side at the draw in Nyon on Friday.

 

The ties against Brugge will be played on the 18/19 and 25/26 August, in what will be the first time that the Reds have entered the competition at this stage since 2005, when a 6-0 aggregate victory over Hungarians Debrecen gave Sir Alex Ferguson’s men a safe passage to the group stages. 

 

 

United are at home in the first leg and this is the first time the two clubs have ever met in a competitive fixture.
