He claims that the current squad doesn't meet the standard he sees for the squad in his vision, regardless of their prior achievements. That f*cking delights me, it's called ambition. When he makes such statements, it's not to discourage the squad. It's to signal his intent to those who are responsible for helping him achieve that ambition. Que the next transfer window

He had a full transfer window. No excuses.

And the comparison to Wenger is null and void. Utd haven't moved stadium and capped limits on big signings and had to only go with youth and year by year due to failing sell our best players, including RVP to you guys.

De Rossi Admits He Considered United Move But Club Were Too Slow

Roma’s Daniele De Rossi has confirmed Manchester United enquired about him during the summer and admits that he considered making the move, but changed his mind.

United’s interest in De Rossi was revealed in the latter stages of the transfer window, with United even asking former Roma coach Fabio Capello for a character statement.

But United’s move was firmly rejected by the player and club, with De Rossi deciding to remain a one club man.

But speaking a presser, De Rossi admits leaving the Stadio Olimpico crossed his mind but defeat to rivals Lazio in last season’s Coppa Italia final left him with a score to settle before he could depart:

“This year, when I spoke to the coach, when I spoke to the club, it was the first time I told them that I would have liked to listen to any offers while in previous years, I had always turned down any approach before even listening to it.

“This year, I felt it could be the right year to change because things did not go so well.

“There were lots of things which did not go well, but maybe there was one thing even greater which was not on for me: I could not contemplate my last game in a Roma shirt being that derby. That is the one thing I could not stomach. I could imagine myself in any other club in the world, lifting any trophy, but to think that my last game in a Roma shirt was a derby defeat in the Coppa Italia final… that would have been wrong.”

De Rossi is said to have immediately struck a good relationship with new Roma manager Rudi Garcia and this is also played a part in his decision to stay.

The two sat down to discuss the player’s future and came to an agreement; if an approach was made by a certain time the 31 year old could leave. But Garcia claims United missed their chance:

“This summer we discussed his future. He’s Roman, he’s from here, but there were big clubs after him and he was waiting to see. I said to him that I couldn’t lose him at the last minute so we fixed a date after which he would not move.

“And that’s exactly what happened. The first league match came and a few days after Manchester United called the club, called him, but the date had passed and he didn’t move.”

You missed the point, Moyes wasn't responsible for transfers.

And Manchester United have had spending capped, (not officially of course)

Also the best players have been sold/allowed to leave or just got old without being adequately replaced.

The major issues are with the club not the manager in particular. He's not greatly helping himself but he's not really been helped either.

Last time I checked United didn't have a director of football.

Moyes may not have been responsible for the negotiations cause that's Woodward's job but choosing the players we did and didn't target and the timing of our attempted bids(waiting until deadline day to tell Woodward to move for Fellaini, Coentrao, Herrera etc. instead of during pre-season) was down to him.

I'd like to know how much information/notice Moyes had about the united job though. From someone coming from Everton to a club like United you'd need a significant amount of time to take a look at the squad, asses the weakness's and then go out and find the correct players. The whole thing seems like Fergie said one day I'm going so appoint Moyes, Moyes got approached and appointed and then he was rushing around trying to find players. True say if he would have kept the backroom staff this wouldn't have been as much of a problem. I dunno it just seems like Moyes didn't get alot of time to plan ahead, I maybe wrong.
