People talk about bringing in a number 2 who knows what they're doing and who commands the players respect.

How many people knew who Rene was when he was appointed and what he'd bring to the table. Same with Carlos.

Not read the book and don't plan to but apparently there are only 4 mentions of Rene in Fergie's book, I'm not completely discounting his contribution but he seems to be his own self publicist. When Fergie was manager and spent most of the week at the races or napping in his office given a choice between handing the reigns to Phelen or Rene who do you think HE'd choose.

People questioned the capabilities of Carlos when he came in, the players apparently didn't take to him his tactics or methods for a while but now history paints a different picture and it was always a cultured decision right?

Rene has his success stories within the squad but I'd bet a decent amount that you'd get as many players talking about his flaws as well. One things for sure it wasn't fit to judge these people in the first season let alone first few months.

Some would argue that Round is better equipped to be assistant at United than Rene was experience wise at the time of appointment.

People talk about respect Carlos was unknown in most quarters when he arrived, whereas Phil Neville at least has the accolade of having been there and done it.

I'm not saying that either Round or Neville will go onto becoming as accomplished as the two others but I'm asking people to use some context and remember what popular opinion was when those two were brought in.

Something Gary Neville said on twitter this morning when asked a question about Moyes.

@GNev2: “@BrownBearSahil: @GNev2 Still back United Gary! Still back Moyes!”

Only Jonny come lately fans wouldn't!!! We're not a Rubber Dinghy club!

It hurts my head to see some sections of the fanbase acting like Chelsea fans. Always thought we had more class than that, Shouldn't be surprised though as some people wrote Scholes off in the mid 200's, Jeered Giggs around the same time and called for Fergie to get the sack during the other transitional period.

junk

this forcing we are classy , we dont ust change managers thing is nonsense

hes a decent manager but yet look at what a new manager is acheiving  at his old club

you cant even say martinez is doing well with moyes old team beacuse 4 of the players that played never even played under moyes

moyes is a negative manager hes going to take the club to mediocre levels if he continues

you cant compare the team to when saf took over as he didnt take over champions and man utd were not one of the biggest clubs in the world

I think that's the case and point

Martinez is taking everton to the next level without the excuses moyes used to give for not pushing a big club like everton on

from the man utd forum basically echoing what i said about jagielka's comments

this is basically what he said on motd commenting on everton's win at old trafford "in past years weve  come to places like this and struggled but with the confidence the new manager has put into the team we've come and had a real go". Does that not speak volumes of the negative mindset moyes had at everton? a lot of the moyes apologists will say the players are the problem at united but is it that moyes's way of managing is killing the confidence in the players?

This is what the pro-Moyes guys are not responding to

How can Martinez with the same transfer and wage budget after losing their best player within 3 months have Everton outplaying Man Utd at old trafford and Moyes couldnt master a win at OT once in his career and is still struggling to win at OT now

What footballing philosophy does Moyes believe in? Where has he shown and spoken about this?

RVP, Carrick, Rooney out for tommorow and Kagawa is a strong doubt apparently

Surely Giggs will not start 3 in a row

Remy will rape Vidic

Cleverly looks like he is getting the Young treatment and can see Welbeck not starting as we have no back up strikers and didn't do much last game tbh

Can see it being

Phil Neville is a respected pro, who has a mantelpiece full of silverware. People who are on a place to know these things also say he's more if a student of the game than Gary was. (Most people would say they've been surprised by how astute Gary has been proved to be over the lady couple seasons) the Players will at least know who he is. Could the same be said of Carlos when he walked through the door?

If track record, experience, honours and how the guy scrubs up, dictates success in this role then Fergie's most respected number 2 would've been Walter Smith. Obviously we are all wiser than that.
